Arnette House provides Emergency Shelter services 24/7/365

We serve children ages 10-17 who are:
– Runaway or homeless
– Truant or experiencing school-related conflict
– In need of short-term respite or crisis placement
– Experiencing parent/ guardian conflict

All program services are provided at no cost to youth or families.

Services include: Food and clothing, Life skills education, Crisis counseling, Individual and family counseling, Recreation activities, Case management, Educational services (through local school districts)

What do you give the youth while at Arnette House?

Every kid gets a safe bed to sleep in, food and clothes, a place to take a shower and feel clean, and people who care about them and their futures!

Can youth bring cell phones, video games, or computers?

No. Youth are not permitted to have any personal electronics during their stay. Parents/guardians are asked to leave these items at home. Computers are provided for youth to complete school assignments.

Do the kids attend school?

Yes! When school is in session, all clients are required to attend school either virtually or in person for select local schools. At Arnette House, children can catch up on missed schoolwork and access IXL, an interactive online learning program designed for academic help and enrichment.

Do the kids have access to a counselor?

During their stay at Arnette House, youth have access to a mental health counselor who can talk with them about their feelings and problems and learn better ways to handle tough situations.

What recreational activities do you offer?

While at Arnette House, youth enjoy a variety of activities, including art and craft projects, music time, friendly sports competitions, swimming, roller skating, and much more!

What if my child takes medication?

Our on-staff nurse is available to address any physical health issues that may arise and assist with medication management. Trained shelter supervisors can administer medications to clients according to prescription instructions. We cannot administer injectable medications or medications that require blood pressure monitoring

What if my child has dietary restrictions?

Our food services coordinator can reasonably accommodate any dietary restriction(s) a child may have due to allergies, diet, or religious beliefs.
